  Houston has diverse dining options.  Ethiopian cuisine is available in a few places. Sheger brings Ethiopian tastes to near West University/ Belliare.
  I typically dine here twice a year.  My significant other, who has dined in Ethiopian restaurants in Washington DC, Los Angeles, and in Ethiopia, the country, comments: it doesn't look like much from the outside,  but the food inside is as good as you'll find anywhere,  and they even have tej ( honey wine ).

  We went to this restaurant to try ethiopian food for the first time in our lives ..
  when we first came in someone from the staff approached us and they asked us what we want to drink (as usual) and then we get the menu from which we ordered vegetable and non vegetable platter, it took a while to bring the food and the tea,even though no one was there except two guys by the bar..
  The food was really good every single part of it was very tasty except the bread it was a little bit sour which is okay because it is made from teff but the problem is that you are not served forks/spoons... you just use that bread and it affected the taste of things you eat with it + the texture of the bread that made it really hard to grab food because of the bread texture which is more like a bit thicker crepe (speaks an Arab person who has experience in grabbing food with pita bread) ..
  you get vegetables and then you get different types of meat, plus you have one egg with a sauce we could not have the cooked egg just because the sauce was a little bit too strange and strong for us...
  regarding the cleanliness it was clean but the bathroom could have been better, the venue is really cute there is a small place where they show the traditional seatings..

  Great vibes on weekend nights! Good bar selection and friendly bartenders! We had the injera with all the meats and vegetables that come on top. All packed with flavors! I can't pronounce all the toppings we had but you cant go wrong by going with the special. Definitely going back!

  Amazing and authentic Ethiopian food in Houston.  It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the restaurant is nice and clean and the staff are really great.  The food is some of the best Ethiopian food I've ever had.

  I love this place so much! The food is amazing! We've yet to try anything we haven't liked. Beware though, if you're too good to eat with your hands then don't bother because this place has no utensils! Our all-time favorite is the awaze tibs. It's just beef cooked in some red sauce served over a giant injara. (An injara is this giant, squishy, slightly sour tortilla-looking bread of sorts that you use to eat your food with... If you've ever had mochi, it feels sort of like that) Try it! You won't regret it! I've even had their vegetarian dishes and they are very good as well. There's a bar, but I don't drink so there's that. The restaurant is located literally on the corner of Bellaire and Chimney Rock behind a pawn shop. The midst middle sign reads "Ethiopian Restaurant" but once you make it into the parking lot, you'll see the actual name of the restaurant. The food takes a bit to come out, and every time I've been there we have been the only customers, but it only makes for a more comfortable outing in my opinion.
